A Gift from Lennon with Beatles Photographs

The round blue tinted John Lennon style round glasses were given by Lennon to a young man in Abbey Road whilst he was visiting the studio with his girlfriend in 1968 on his birthday.

The young man saw the spectacles lying on the piano and went to pick them up but was told by his then girlfriend to leave them, to which Lennon replied ‘it’s okay, he can have them’. It is not certain who the glasses belonged to. The glasses are estimated at £2000-3000.

The glasses are also sold alongside a collection of thirty three black and white photographs taken by the owner in 1968 and 1969 when he visited Abbey Road. A number of the photographs include Paul McCartney, George Harrison, George Martin and Ringo. Some of the images were taken on the same day as the photoshoot for the famous ‘Abbey Road’ album when the Beatles walk across the zebra crossing. The photographs are to be sold with copyright and will have a pre-sale estimate of £200-300.

The glasses and photographs will be going up for auction at our next sale on July 31st at Farleigh Golf Club.
