After almost twenty five years in the auction industry, including senior roles for Bonhams in East Anglia & the South East and Tennants in Yorkshire, Steven joined the company in November 2024 as an all-round valuer with a particular interest in paintings.
Amongst his career highlights and favourite finds to date, are a Claude Lorrain (c.1600-1682) pastoral landscape oil, that achieved over £700,000; a rare inlaid lacquer elephant okimono by Ogawa Haritsu (1663-1747) that hit a hammer price of £84,000 and a dog collar belonging to Lord Byron’s favourite Newfoundland “Boatswain” that came with teeth marks from the poet’s other pet , a bear.

Along with artworks, he has a great passion for antiquarian books & maps, early silver, British pottery, Chinese porcelain, Georgian glass, Art Nouveau bronzes, musical instruments, militaria and all things that are slightly unusual.
